Are You A Smelly Lady?

"Don't sweat it, HANDLE IT!"
......is literally the phrase I need to recite to myself every day when I'm at work here in Montreal! It's really tough and it can get worse if people around me (or myself) starts to have BO (Body Odour). I remember one day when I took the bus to get to work, the driver had so much BO, it literally flew at me every time he gases the car after a stop sign or light.

DON'T BE A SMELLY LADY!

Lady Speed Stick sent me these to try out. To be really honest, I already use their Fresh Infusion - Strawberry Splash and I'm a huge fan. With these new babies, I tried to see if it can live up to its claim.

I wore them from morning to night (I work till like 9 pm here) and honestly, you will be surprised at how people smell throughout the day (and they are ladies too)! I'm so glad these are as long lasting as I expected! :)

It's also invisible, so when I went out with my friends, I didn't need to worry that I have white spots on my armpits :)

The Lady Speed Stick Power Collection has 4 fragrances:
Cool Breeze
Powder Burst
Satin Pear
Fresh Fusion Gel

Those marked with star (*) are included in this review.

There's a coupon you can use here, valid until May 25th.
You can also win a gift basket at She Blogs Media Website - Contest tab! :)

The Gift Basket includes:
Lady Speed Stick Fresh Infusion Fruity Melon 45g
Lady Speed Stick Stainguard Daringly Fresh 65g
Lady Speed Stick Power Cool Breeze 45g
Men Speed Stick Power Fresh 14g
Men Speed Stick Irish Spring Original Deo 92g

Open to Canadian Residents only - 6 winners will be chosen randomly by SheBlogsMedia

The Power Fresh Fusion Gel is my favourite at this time because it comes out like gel!
My first time using it, I applied too much and it was too sticky, so make sure you don't twist the bottom dial too much or else too much product will come out!
Considering how much I actually use each day, I think one of these "stick" will last me well over 2 months! Super worth it for such a low price! I feel like this is a secret weapon!

A little goes a long way and I love that no matter what, it's going to be invisible! :)
I feel fresh and know that I smell good all day :)

The other 3 flavours all has a solid stick like the below:

Persona Tea Party at The Windsor Arms Hotel

Hi Sparklies!

The week before I left for my work trip in Montreal (April 16) , I was invited to join a tea party!! I always love these! It was hosted by Persona Jewellery! They were launching their Spring/Summer Collection. It's been a little while since the event so you can easily find their collection now in stores! You can find them on their online website as well!

They launched 3 collections for Spring/Summer 2013!
Here they are:

The Paradise Collection features the essence of spring with birds, butterflies and flowers. My favourite charms were  ENCHANTED ESCAPE, FLORAL FANTASY and BOTANICAL BLISS because they feature 3D flowers!!!! They are soo cool! I have more close up pictures of them below.

This is the Vitral Collection, to me, it feels more like a bohemian style. What do you think?

Another super cute collection, the Retro Collection! Super super cute, it features the 60s - 70s groovy! Think Austin Powers! hahah My favourite charms from this collection were Roller Girl, which is a pair of roller skates and Convertible Cool, which is a pink car! SOO CUTE!! I love it!

Other than choosing your charms by collection, you can mix and match by colours.
Can you imagine my reaction when I saw the cup of Pink BLING BLING Charms?! I went crazy inside (I had to keep my cool posture.......my eyes sold me out) haha!

We got to make our own bracelet at the Bracelet Station:

We get to chose one of each category. Starting with a Double Wrap Nappa Leather bracelet then just picked my charms. I think the hardest was picking the 3D charms below.

THIS WAS SO TOUGH! I love all of them!!

What do you think of the collection?!
I'm going to post my review of my bracelet when I get back to Toronto.
I'm still pretty new to the brand so I want to take my time to see how my bracelet is holding up first :)

Thanks so much for reading! I hope I can post more soon when I return from my work trip!

NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

Directions of Use
Blush is the fastest and easiest way to give yourself a pick-me-up. Start by applying blush to the apples of the cheeks. Take what's left on the brush and sweep across the hairline, bridge of the nose, and the chin. Neutral-tone blushes can also be used to contour and sculpt the skin. –JAMES BOEHMER, DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL ARTISTRY

Price:
$26.00 USD / $32 CAD for 0.16 oz
Can be purchased on NARS Website, NARS counters, Sephora, Bloomingdales and more

Review:

I'm lucky to have the Shiseido Warehouse Sale near where I live because they carry NARS products as well. If I were to pay full price to try out NARS products, I might be very hesitant for sure. My theory is that I usually invest into expensive foundations but not colour make up like eyeshadows or blushes.  I  purchased mine as part of a gift set so if I break it down by pieces, my blush cost me about $15.

Packaging is just like all other NARS product, matte black and collects all the dirt there is. When I brought it to use in Hong Kong, the packaging kind of melted due to the heat. It was extremely nasty so I always need to wipe it clean with alcohol. However, I have heard that they have decided to use this type of packaging because it is easy to recycle. Inside comes with a mirror - convenient for me to apply make up.

NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

The texture of the blush in the case is rough to touch, I tend to apply with a blush and good thing - it's not rough on my cheeks at all.

In terms of colour, I think that it is pretty much the same as the regular orgasm except it has chunky gold glitter. It is a coral pink with golden luminous glow, it blends into the skin beautifully and is suitable for all skin tones. I feel that it looks especially good on sun kissed skin. With a light hand, it suits well with pale skin tones too. The glow never makes me look shiny, just a nice healthy sheen. The blush is very pigmented and has an incredible staying power of 6-7 hours.  I almost never need to touch up my blush.

NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

Many people on blogs and MakeUpAlley complained how the glitter eventually gets all over the face. I agree with that, so on days that I don't want any gold glitter, I use a face brush to brush the glitter off before I finish my look. The gold glitter to me is generally not very noticeable but it's a nice accent to have.

Overall, this is one of my favourite blush. I like the Super Orgasm over Orgasm because I like the option of having glitter. Colour, pigmentation, longevity are all superb. The price is rather steep however if you find a good deal or have extra money to spurge, I truly recommend this blush. I think it looks amazing on Asian skin tones.

REVIEW: Canmake Coloring Eyebrow

Canmake Coloring Eyebrow in 01 Yellow Brown

What is this Product? (What it claims)
This mascara-type eyebrow color quickly and easily brightens up your entire look, allowing you to sport a different eyebrow color every day, so you can coordinate it with your hair, make-up and outfit. Goes on smoothly, without feeling at all sticky or rough. The short inverted triangular brush makes it simpler to apply, ensuring that your brows are evenly coated and allowing you easily to adjust any imperfections in their thickness or texture. Waterproof.

Available Shades:
[01] yellow brown☆ Goes well with your bright, blondish hair, for a sophisticated look
[03]natural brown☆ An easy-to-use color, for your natural-color hair
[04] bronze brown☆ Goes well with your bright, reddish-brown eyebrows, for a glamorous look
[05] Honey Gold☆ For bright hair color in shades close to gold. Emphasizes your eye make-up, for eyes with impact. Can also be used to decrease the volume of your eyebrows

Canmake Coloring Eyebrow in 01 Yellow Brown

Directions of Use
It is important to take care to wipe the brush with a tissue before using it, as this will prevent the product getting onto your skin. Brushing outwards from the part of the eyebrow closest to your nose will ensure that your brows are evenly coated. Please take care not to use too much, as this will cause the eyebrow color to clump.Main Ingredients

Price:
400 yen in Japan
$13.90 Singapore Dollars
Approx $20-25 CAD in Pacific Mall stores
I purchase it for $52 HKD ($8 CAD) when I tried out their Canmake HK Workshop

Canmake Coloring Eyebrow in 01 Yellow Brown

Review:
I purchased this out of curiosity and because at the time, my hair was light brown/blondish and I wanted my brows to match. It's weird to have full black eyebrows when my hair is much lighter. Since I purchased this Canmake one, I also bought the Cosmagic one later to try. This review is long overdue but I thought I'd share anyways =)

The packaging is compact and can easily fit in make up pouches. It's in the form of any mascara brush so it's super easy to use. I tend to wiggle it to coat my natural eyebrows. It's recommended that you clean or wipe it clean after every use.

Canmake Coloring Eyebrow in 01 Yellow Brown - Applicator

Canmake Coloring Eyebrow in 01 Yellow Brown - Swatch

At the time, they didn't have any lighter shades and I felt that Yellow Brown would be most fitting for my eye brows. I think that this product does work except that also means you need to put in A LOT of effort. I need to first to a light wiggle to coat my eyebrows, while it's still wet, I apply eyebrow powder or eyeshadow powder to fill it in. It's not very pigmented to cover my dark nature eyebrow hair. Then, I re-coat it again to cover my natural colour some more. To make my eyebrows perfect, it takes tons of effort compared to the Cosmagic one.

Wow, I just noticed all my wrinkles in the swatch photo >.<

Canmake Coloring Eyebrow in 01 Yellow Brown

WIth just one coat, the product doesn't really cover my natural brow color (black) and the waterproof ability is not so good - especially in sea salt water.  This is only good for those who needs a light lift of colour, or those who don't have pigmented, full eyebrows like mine.

In terms of price, I think that it's the best price in Japan and Hong Kong.

Review:
I'm pretty amazed at the range of colours they are able to push out for the price! For a drugstore brand to come out with such vibrant shades of eyeshadows is rather rare (in Canada at least! I find it more common in Europe and UK)

For packaging, I find that the dome shade lid makes it very hard for storage. I would prefer them to be flat instead so I can easily file them vertically or stack them up. I do enjoy the clear lid so I can see what colour it is. Of course, it's not luxuriously packaged but for a quick, inexpensive pick me up - it's just fine.

The texture is not a little harsh and not all the shades are pigmented. I would say that the pigmentation are different for most shades. Staying power is about about 4-6 hours if you don't touch your face. It lasts for full 6 hours with a primer.

I'm not a fan of their shimmery shadows such as:

60 kermit says hello (shimmer effects)
62 john lemon (shimmer effects) September 2012
68 strawberry ice cream (shimmer effects) February 2013

If you prefer neutrals, these shades are pretty good:

02 dance all night (sparkling effect)
06 METROPOLITAN (sparkling effect)
09 GET READY! (shimmer effect)
58 cappuccino, please! (shimmer effect)

I also adore their vibrant shades such as the following but you would need a primer do bring it out to full pigmentation:

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Triple Power™ LZR Deep-Acting Moisturizer

Main Ingredients
L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Triple Power™ LZR Deep-Acting Moisturizer

Science Behind the Beauty Revitalift® Triple Power™ LZR Deep-Acting Moisturizer visibly restructures skin from within using 2 breakthrough anti-aging ingredients:

Pro-Xylane - A naturally derived molecule shown to promote moisture retention and build the cohesion of layers, creating an ideal environment for skin’s natural cell metabolism.

Hyaluronic Acid - Plumps skin, improving elasticity and reinforcing fullness so that fine lines are minimized and skin is instantly hydrated.

Price:
Suggested Retail Price $35.99 CAD
I've seen it sell at Walmart, Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart for around $27 to $38 CAD.

Review:
The product comes in a red glass jar which gave me a luxurious feeling like department store brands. It has a plastic lid before getting to the actual cream. I think that it smells heavenly but it may be a little strong if you're not into scented moisturizers.

The texture is wonderful, I love how easy it is to blend it out. It's extremely absorbent so I end up applying a bit more than my usual amount compared to other products (I have very dry skin). However because of this, it easily creates white flaky balls/eraser dust residue on the skin. I cannot apply make up on top of this cream unless I use a stippling brush. Any rubbing or tugging motion when I apply my make up on top of the cream will create the eraser dust residue on my skin - which is extremely troublesome.

In terms of moisturizing factor, I still that it's still lacking in this area. Thoughout the day, I slowly see my fine wrinkles as a sign to show dryness. I feel that it's moisturizing factor only managed to stay for 1-3 hours maximum.

Update: Moving, Car Crash, Cruise, Miami, Montreal, Girlfriends!

Hi Sparklies

Just wanted to fill you all in on some good news! Flash back in my past posts (here, here and here)  I was definitely going through some tough times. I'm glad things are slowly looking up for me and I pray that it will continue to go up from here. In February, I finally got my temporary contract for my 2nd dream job! *YAY to new beginnings* It's conditional so I still have many stages to pass until I secure the position. I don't want to elaborate too much publicly because I don't want my blog to jeopardize this opportunity. I hold it dearly to my heart!

So here I share my interview face haha! I wonder if that gives away what I interviewed for.

Back to the story.. part of those "stages" includes moving to Montreal for a little while. I will be away from my beloved playground (my room) and my mini *ghetto* photo studio. That's why I've been super busy trying to secure some giveaways for you guys and also write up some post dated posts so my internet home (my blog) won't be so empty while I'm gone.

Please keep me in your prayers that I will be able to focus, have wisdom and strength and meet some wonderful people :)

Car Crash & G License (March)

So while I was in good spirits and everything, my parents began to push me to go for my G license (full driving license in Ontario - where I live). I'm a chicken when it comes to driving. In here, you're allowed to begin your driving test at the age of 16. The average person passes everything and gets their full license at 18-19 (like my bf).

I went for my written at 16 then waited until I was 18 to get my G2. I failed 4-5 times, honestly, I wasn't THAT bad. I had really bad luck though (ok and I lacked experience too)!  For example: I had two examiners during my test? I ran a yellow light (auto fail). I went into the wrong lane (those construction thingies only popped up during my test and they were gone by the time I came back!)

So I got my G2 when I was 20. The rule is that you have 5 years to get your full license or else you have to start form the beginning - this means I have 1 year to get my G license. I'm thinking this is impossible considering I failed like 5 times get just pass my G2!  By the way, there's a one-year waiting time between each test! So a year goes by, my driving instructor retired, deadline is coming up - I was screwed. Somehow the Ministry of Transportation had a strike at the same time, I don't know how but I got my G2 renewed and they counted my 5 years fresh at G2 LOL! So I was allowed 10 years to get my full G license.... Life's good!

So then I waited and slacked and shrugged it off when I got pushed until I got this new job offer that won't start until April so you know how Asian parents does it. They push you till you get REALLY FREAKING annoyed and you just do it. Got referred to a really crappy driving instructor named Alex (if you have an instructor with the same name, feel free to message me to see if it's the same guy). HE WAS A NIGHTMARE. He doesn't count his time and money properly. He booked my test date and then when the date is coming near, he doesn't show up - complete MIA - then texted me to ask when my test was. UNBELIEVABLE. Anyway, thanks to Emily, I found another driving instructor named Janet. She was super $$ in my eyes but she seems very confident that I'll pass.

So that morning for my G test, I woke up super early and I got someone from home to give me a lift to meet with my instructor. I was stressed out of my mind because I know if I'm gonna fail this test, it's gonna cost me so much money! *sigh. I'd much rather spend a couple hundred on a purse than a stupid driving test!! Argh!! Anyway just when our car was on the way we got into a car crash!

It was on my side too! It was horrific! I've been in 3 car accidents my whole life and this was probably the scariest! All these weird thoughts comes in!  I called my bf to help out and everything. Once things settled, I went to meet with my driving instructor. The entire time, I kept myself super composed but really I know, I'm totally not myself. I had to try really really really hard to focus and so on!

My stress level was seriously at its peak! It was time for my G test and I really really need to pass. Not only for the money but because I need to bring good news home. I feel so much burden on my shoulders suddenly! Also, because I left the latter things for my bf to handle and help out, I have no idea what's happening. I called a few friends to help too, thank you guys so much darlings!!

My examiner is this huge guy with an accent. When he sat down, the whole car weighed down. He totally ignored me when I asked "How are you?" and he was very loud when he talks. He just scares me!! Right when I started, I almost missed the yellow light and braked so hard, the perfume thing at the wind shield area FLEW into the glass. It splattered everywhere. The examiner coughed because the seat belt choked him. I thought to myself.. I'm SO GUNNA FAIL!! I just kept praying and just did my best no matter what anyway.  On the 3-point turn, I was told we're not supposed to hit curb. I couldn't see so I think I was running into a curb but it was just snow.

He yelled at me "IT'S JUST SNOW FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE"
"Sorry sir, I'm sorry sir"

On a left turn, I hesistated because a car is coming..
"THE CAR IS A MILE AWAY, TURN ALREADY WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR"
"Sorry sir" *looks once more and floored the gas petal*

Honestly, I thought I was gunna fail, then when we got back. He said "Congratulations" and smiled.
Best. Thing. All. Day.

I finally stepped out of the car, my instructor ran to hug me and she said my whole body was shaking. My voice was trembling. It kinda shows how much I was suppressing inside myself all this time since the car crash.

So that's how I got my full license after 8 years lol.........

MIAMI + CRUISE (April)

In light of the crappy car crash and because of my conditional offer, I went on a trip with my family and boyfriend!

Formal Night on the Carnival Victory

More pictures will come because I want to separately blog about it!

Girlfriends

Emily, Rica and I met up to shop, eat, yak and just spend time together! It was so much fun shopping with them! My feet were so sore after and we were all wearing flats of some sort! Too bad Michele couldn't join us but I'm sure we'll plan another one of these soon! We always say this because we're quite in disbelief sometimes how we met from blogging and we turned into such great friends.

Here's the post of one of our first meet ups: BAM

For the past week or so, I've been making an effort to see as many people as possible but it's so hard with everyone's work schedule etc! Time is just super tight! I'm trying to mail all the giveaways out, post as much as I can, pack my bags and prep the paperwork I need to get done! AHHH!!

I'll be back in 2 months though! I'll miss my blog so much!
Anyway, I better continue editing, writing my blog posts and blah blah.......

I miss you so much! As always, thank you so much for reading!!!
XOXO!

HAUL: Ela Handbags & Sample Sale

Recently Ela Handbags had a sample sale! The sale was opened to public and it was packed as ever!!
I've been eyeing this brand for a while as many celebs has been wearing their M.I.L.C.K Clutch and Editor's Pouch.
Sorry I didn't tell you guys (the sale is really new to me, didn't want to recommend anything not good), next time I find out about the sale, I'll be sure to tweet about it :)

Ela Handbags
Just thought I'll write a little bit of info on the brand and designer as it isn't like the popular LV and Chanel. Ela Kowalewska is the designer behind ela, a Swedish/Canadian accessories brand founded by both Ela herself and husband, Martin Aldorsson. I stalked their Facebook page to find out their accessories has became celebs' fave arm candy; many magazine editors and blogger love their pouches and clutches too! Not only did I stalk FB, I love love love reading their blog because it shows how their bags are made, inspirations and all these behind the scenes in their workshop where the bags are born. It's pretty cool and worth a read!

All ela bags and leather goods are crafted in Spain using premium leather and hardware.

I was texting with Emily and Rica about it since we are such desperate shopping buddies haha :)
Rica and I decided to go together however I had to flop last minute. Sorry!
It's so sad that I didn't make it to their sale myself otherwise I could've met Ela and Martin! *cries*
So... super big thanks to Rica for helping me buy my #1 wish list item and sharing photos with me!

Photo Credit: Rica and I just made a collage out of it :)

Rica told me told me the sale was super crowded straight from the beginning and bags were being sold out right away! I made a wish list to rica and even estimated the prices, kinda cool how my guesses for the sale price were actually pretty on the spot!

Rica helped me buy the Ela Lardy in Red Stud (thanks, love), I fell in love with this bag because of Ela's blog!
I noticed I always buy the non-bandwagon bags. The Editor's Pouch and MILCK Clutch are the designer's bestselling item. Honestly, they're like staple items. I'm actually starting to regret not picking one up, but then how to choose which colour? They have all the colours of the rainbow!!

Ela Lardy in Red Stud

Ela Lardy in Red Stud

Ela Lardy in Red Stud

Here's my Ela Lardy in Red Stud! In my eyes she's such a beauty!!
It's super roomy so it's perfect for me, I always carry a ton of things!
I believe this bag retails for around $780 CAD and I got it for just $200! This was SUCH a steal!

Anyway, have you heard of the brand? What do you think of my haul??
As always, thanks for reading!! xoxo
